It’s another one of those shops with a smooth-talking, overconfident gentleman at the front desk, and technicians in the back that do rushed work and refuse to take responsibility. They will charge you a huge amount of money and take up your time through several visits without actually fixing the issue. After Three visits, a huge amount of money, they actually broke other components on my vehicle in the process of the work they did. They haven’t even resolved the main issue and they’ve even told me that I can “take my business elsewhere” when I asked for them to honor their warranty. That came from the technician Justin. I’ve asked to speak with Kevin and never heard from him again. It’s clearly another one of those shops that tells you over the phone and in person that they warranty their work… But if an issue actually comes up, they give you some legally backwards explanation for why it doesn’t actually apply to all the money and visits you sunk into an issue with them. Nonsense explanations like “ we correctly changed the part” to make the excuse that the WHOLE system is not under warranty… the reason I came in, or “ I can’t take responsibility for another mechanic’s to work

Drove in from arizona. Hit the mountain and suddenly engine started acting up it was Thursday we were supposed to leave on Sunday I checked out coastal auto repair loved the reviews and drove over to see if they could fix my truck not only did the owner come out scan it and tell me what it looked like but scheduled me with Jason the shop foreman for the morning. If I lived in the area I would bring everything I have to these guys. Amazing trustworthy and reliable

Ian was very easy to contact and knew everything about my car. I had a check engine light come on for a purge valve, the dealership quoted twice as much as I paid at Costal Auto Repair. I trust these guys to be honest, knowledgeable and for their customer service.

Coastal Auto Repair has been and will continue to be my go-to auto shop for regular maintenance on my 2018 Hyundai Kona. Ian and his team are professional, kind, honest, and go above and beyond to ensure all of your car needs are met. Most recently, I brought my Kona to the shop to have the brakes replaced. The estimated price came in far below what any other shop would have charged me. Additionally, we discovered that there was a larger problem with the engine. Ian took the time to reexamine the issue, send me recall information regarding engine issues with Hyundais, advised that a free replacement should be covered under Hyundai's warranty (it was), and was available to take additional questions while I was discussing the engine replacement process with a local dealership. This is absolutely unheard of. Ian and his team truly care about the people they serve and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-tier mechanic in San Diego.

Ian explains clearly and patiently and gives me a good price. The job is always well-done when I get back my car. And Kevin in the office is always friendly and courteous when I drop off or pick up the car.
